America 250
How beautiful it is to be an American; to be the living heritage of those great pioneers of wilderness and freedom who came before. How good it is to stand here two and a half centuries after our forefathers pledged their lives, fortune, and sacred honor to resist foreign rule and birth a new nation. A nation with a government that recognized God as the ultimate lawgiver and a people who understood that Government is not God, mother, father, benevolent tyrant, or free ride.
It has been 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and America the Beautiful still stretches from sea to shining sea. There are American ideals, but we are not an idea. We have a border, but we are not the product of “magic dirt”. We are a people; a people with a history, heritage, and culture. A people with a place, and that place is the United States of America. A place worth living in. A place worth loving. A place worth defending, fighting for, and being inconvenienced for.
The Democrats would have you believe that 250 years of America is a bad thing and that you should apologize for it. To make up for this bad thing, they tell you any foreigner they bring over is just as American as you and I. They will look you dead in the eye and tell you that what your country needs is limitless foreigners who hate your nation, your laws, your God, your flag, and your way of life. They say it’s diversity and call it strength. They say if you object to any of that, you’re racist and evil and need to be silenced. Or maybe they will just say you should be killed for being a Republican, like this Wisconsin Democrat staffer just told everyone to “kill your local Republican”.

Why mention all that? Because American freedom has always had enemies. Whether it’s King George III’s lobsterbacks marching on Lexington and Concord or the current commies demanding you surrender your birthright to foreign mobs, evil needs to be resisted. Resisting evil with your time can be inconvenient, but, as I said, America is worth the inconvenience.
To keep the banner of freedom high in Sheboygan County takes the occasional inconvenient morning, afternoon, or evening to volunteer at the Sheboygan GOP Office, go door-to-door, help put up signs, or march with us in the parade tomorrow. You and I must do our part to give 250 more years of freedom and prosperity to this great nation. If you’ve never volunteered before, I think you’ll find it fun to carve out a little time to defend our county.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The second thing to mention is the 4th Annual 4 on the 4th. U.S. Marine and all-around great American, Paul Werth, will once again read our Declaration of Independence on the Sheboygan Courthouse steps at 4:00 pm. It’s easy to forget how magnificent our Declaration is; show up and let Paul remind you.
