Joe Sheehan co-sponsored a bill to repeal most protections for unborn life, which would allow abortion up to the point of birth.
Rep. Joe Sheehan co-authored Assembly Bill 355, legislation that would significantly expand abortion access in Wisconsin by establishing a statutory right to abortion and repealing numerous abortion-related regulations.
AB 355 would:
- Protect abortion access at any stage of pregnancy—including at full term—when the individual’s medical provider judges it necessary.
- Remove the specific requirement for a physical exam before providing abortion medication and repeal the requirement that a physician performing abortions have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles. A court has already blocked the admitting-privileges requirement. We believe removing these safeguards puts women’s lives at risk.
The bill also mandates that certain government employee health plans with maternity coverage cover abortion in Wisconsin.
It also repeals the specific criminal penalty for a person who is not a physician and who intentionally performs an abortion.
Sure, they say that you need a medical provider to judge an abortion necessary—but the new provision does not define “medical provider” or expressly limit necessity to saving the mother’s life.

Remember to vote for John Belanger on November 3 to help stop the nine-month, pro-death, no-exceptions agenda.
Every unborn life has value; the right number of abortions is zero.
