The official wording of the oath of office for public officials in Wisconsin is as follows:
“I, _____, having been elected or appointed to the office of ________ [insert title of office], do hereby swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin, and will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of said office to the best of my ability. So help me God.”.
This oath serves as a formal commitment by public officials to uphold the law and perform their duties with integrity and dedication.
This oath is administered to all elected officials in Wisconsin upon assuming office. Comparable versions of this oath are utilized nationwide, encompassing roles from the presidency to local governmental positions. The critical part of this oath is that it requires elected officials to uphold our laws and ask God for help and guidance.
When an oath is administered, it represents trust and honor between our elected officials, their constituents, the Constitution, the laws, and God. It’s an oath taken by elected officials to ensure that we, as American citizens, retain our God-given, inalienable rights. It’s that simple, but many politicians have muddied the waters around this straightforward concept.
Let’s look at where Senator Tim Kaine recently stated our rights originate. Remember him? He was Hilary Clinton’s running mate and wanted to be vice president and probably thought he would someday become president. He has stated and believes our inalienable rights come from the government, not God. WOW!!! Who wants to be a king or dictator now? Why did our forefathers leave England in the first place? Let’s think about this. Should the end of the Oath read “So help me Liberals and Rinos”? Should our currency read “In Liberals and Rinos we Trust” instead of “In God we Trust”?
The purpose of this writing is to highlight the need for leaders who are willing to serve God, country, and community, and who support practical common-sense solutions to protect our values as free, law-abiding citizens. The April ballot in Sheboygan County will bring many opportunities for residents to run for various positions. If you believe in our inalienable rights, in the true rule of law, and love your community, I ask you to look in the mirror and ask that person, ‘Am I ready to take the oath and seek the opportunity to serve?’
The Republican Party of Sheboygan County encourages candidates who share its common sense principles to run for office or support our election efforts. Other ways to help include distributing literature, making phone calls, assisting with fundraisers, providing transportation for candidates, or offering financial support.
We owe our freedoms to the sacrifices of our forefathers and all those who were injured or sacrificed their lives. If we ignore current community issues, we will then be contributing to the problems.
